Terms of service
Last updated: 13 October 2026
These terms apply when you subscribe to Mimicwatch monitoring or join the partner plan. Mimicwatch is a service for businesses only: by subscribing, you confirm that you act for a business, organisation or professional, not as a private consumer. The short version: we watch public records for domains that imitate yours, a person checks every finding, and you get an alert with what to do. You can cancel by email at any time, and your first 14 days are refundable in full.
1. Who we are
Mimicwatch is run by Ilan Engdahl, sole proprietor
Switzerland (postal address in the legal notice)
Email: hello@mimicwatch.com
2. What the service includes
For each brand you subscribe (one main domain and its name):
- On every business day, we check public sources for new domains that resemble yours: certificate transparency logs, public DNS and public registration data.
- A person reviews each finding and rates it Low, Medium or High.
- When we find something Medium or High, we email you within one business day of finding it. The alert includes a screenshot where a website exists, the reason for the risk level, and a takedown pack: the abuse contacts for the registrar and the host, the links to report it to browser blocklists, and a report text you can send.
- If nothing worth your time turns up, you hear nothing.
The service is not real-time. We will tell you by email before any change that reduces what is listed here.
3. What the service does not include
- We do not take domains down. Registrars and hosts expect the brand owner to report. We prepare the report; you send it. We act on your behalf only if you ask us in writing.
- We cannot promise to find every lookalike. Public sources can be incomplete or temporarily unavailable, and some imitations leave no public trace until they are used. Monitoring makes early discovery much more likely; it does not guarantee it.
- We do not give legal advice. The takedown pack explains the usual reporting routes. For trademark claims or court action, ask a lawyer.
- We never contact, test or probe the domains we find, and we read public data only.
4. Your part
- Only ask us to watch domains and brands that you own or are authorised to protect.
- Give us an email address that is read. Alerts are only useful if someone sees them.
- Use our findings to protect your brand, not to harass the people behind other domains. A similar name is not proof of bad intent, and our risk levels are an opinion based on public data.
5. Prices and payment
- Monitoring is sold to businesses only. We do not offer it to private consumers.
- Monitoring costs 9 euros a month or 90 euros a year per brand. Payment is by card through Stripe, in euros, in advance.
- Mimicwatch is not registered for Swiss VAT, so no VAT is added. If that changes, we will tell you before the next renewal.
- The subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. The new price applies from your next renewal after the notice period, and you can cancel before it does.
- The partner plan for IT providers and agencies (6 euros per brand per month, from 5 brands) is billed to the partner by invoice. These terms apply to it as well, with the partner as the customer.
6. Cancellation and refunds
- To cancel, email hello@mimicwatch.com from the address you subscribed with. We confirm within one business day and stop the next renewal. Monitoring continues until the end of the period you have paid for.
- First 14 days: if you cancel within 14 days of your first payment, we refund it in full, monthly or yearly, without asking why.
- After that, payments already made are not refunded, including the remainder of a yearly plan.
- If we stop the service, we give at least 30 days' notice by email and refund any period you have paid for but not received.
- We may end a subscription at once if it is used against section 4, and refund the unused period.
7. Liability
We do the work carefully, but the service reduces a risk rather than removing it. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim connected with the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that caused it, and we are not liable for indirect loss such as lost profit or lost data. This limit does not apply to damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, or where the law does not allow a limit.
8. Your data
How we handle personal data is set out in the privacy notice. Findings we produce for you are yours to use and share, for example with your IT provider, registrar or lawyer.
9. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we update this page and the date at the top. For a change that affects your rights, we email you at least 30 days before it applies, and you can cancel before then.
10. Law and courts
These terms are governed by Swiss law, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The courts at the seat of Mimicwatch in Switzerland have jurisdiction.
